Founded by Vickie L. Mickey in 1984, About Face emerged as one of Ohio’s inaugural cosmetic therapy centers, later known as a MedSpa, delivering cosmetic and health-related services to the Columbus, Ohio community.
About Vickie
Vickie, a pioneer in Ohio, opened one of the first med spas in Ohio offering laser hair removal in 2000. She has also played a significant role as a national spokesperson and trainer for Candela Laser Corporation, specializing in Laser Hair Removal. Moreover, she has been actively involved in professional associations, serving as President of the International Guild of Professional Electrologist and the Cosmetic Therapy Association of Ohio. She is one of the few experts who teaches the very technical skill of electrolysis to students at her school in Columbus, Ohio, where the best go on to perform electrolysis at the About Face clinic Additionally, she held the position of Educational Coordinator for the Cosmetic Therapy Association of Ohio and served on the State Medical Board Ohio Advisory Committee. Vickie Mickey’s expertise and dedication are rooted in her extensive experience and contributions to the field of cosmetic therapy.
The History of About Face
Founded by Vickie L. Mickey in 1984, About Face emerged as one of Ohio’s inaugural cosmetic therapy centers, later known as a MedSpa, delivering cosmetic and health-related services to the Columbus, Ohio community.
Thriving for 14 successful years, Vickie’s expertise bloomed with her 1998 graduation in Lasertrolysis – the fusion of Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis. In 1999 About Face Cosmetic Therapy Center brough on 1 of the first lasers in the United States, an Alexandrite that only treated lighter skinned patients. In 2003, Vickie inaugurated the use of the Nd Yag for skin of color. This marked the onset of permanent hair removal at About Face. 2000 saw her enrollment at Rocky Mountain College of Laser Hair Removal, followed by a 2001 certification from The Lorain Country Community College. These milestones catalyzed a transformation in About Face’s offerings, now encompassing advanced laser treatments including electrolysis, pioneering Ohio’s first full-service laser-enabled MedSpa.
From 2001 to the mid-2010s, About Face embraced an expansive patient spectrum, introducing services like hormone therapy and advanced body sculpting and skincare treatments. As the practice grew, an array of laser services and progressive treatments continually expanded, upheld by unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction, health, and safety.
Today, About Face boasts a rich history of 39 years, serving a diverse clientele with an extensive array of services. The About Face team’s growth led to the establishment of Ohio’s exclusive Cosmetic Therapy Training Center, where Vickie herself trains students, fostering future luminaries of the field. The brightest talents earn the privilege to collaborate directly with Vickie at the About Face clinic.
